What I promise with Stiva

I built Stiva because I was tired of reading everything too fast and absorbing nothing. I wanted a quiet place for the things I actually want to read, one that asks nothing of me and keeps nothing from me.

These are the rules I built it around.

1. No account needed

You open Stiva and save your first article. No sign-up, no email, no password. Why I started this way.

2. Your library lives on your device

Every article you save is stored locally, so it is there offline, on a plane, in a tunnel. No server of mine has to stay alive for your library to keep existing.

3. No feed, no algorithm

Stiva will never suggest what to read next. You decide what goes in, and you decide when to read it. It is a place to slow down, not another thing competing for your attention.

4. Saving, reading and organizing is free

The core of the app is not a trial and not a teaser. You can save, read and organize your library without paying anything.

5. No subscription

Premium features are a one-time unlock per major version. You pay once for Stiva 1 and those features are yours, with every update released during its life. A new major version is a new choice, never an obligation. The full reasoning.

6. I earn money only when I ship something worth paying for

This is the other side of the previous rule. Without recurring revenue, I only get paid when a new version is good enough that you want it. I think that is the right kind of pressure to be under.
